When you are working full time, trying to dominate your career, eat clean, look amazing, catch up with everyone, clean the house, get that all-important family time in… It can be hard to keep a cool and productive head on.
The more you try to do it all, the more likely you are to achieve very little.
The best way to keep yourself productive is to take the bull by the horns and accept that running around like a headless chickenn might not indeed be the best way.
Learning to work with it
However, what you CAN do, is put the necessary steps in motion to enable you maximize the time you have available and CONQUER your busy schedule.
So here are my 5 essential morning productivity tips to help you along the way:
1. Drink celery juice
Call me crazy if you want to, I know it doesn’t sound the most appealing, however, I URGE you to try it. A good friend of mine got me on to the medical medium cleanse and a big part of it was the morning celery juice. I screwed my face up initially and thought yuck. Surely with ginger? Or a fruit to make it taste better? After your first maybe, two sips, you realize it tastes about a million times better than you initially preconceived. My skin cleared up after 2 weeks (I’ve battled adult acne for YEARS) and I felt SO much mentally sharper than I can even express to you. Try it. See how you feel about it. I have a funny feeling you are going to enjoy the mental clarity that follows. I drink it in the car on the way to work and boy oh boy, I am ready to rock and roll when I get there.
2. Write down your objectives on the old-school notepad
There are apps upon apps to organize you, however, if you have to be completely clear as to what to put IN the app. There’s something therapeutic about putting all of your thoughts of what you need to get done, down on PAPER and scribbling them all out from your mind down to the page. A way of organizing all the things racing around that you know you need to do. You can tick them off as you go (YES! Accomplishment!) and give yourself little wins.
3. Prioritize then add your prioritized tasks to your calendar on your phone
This the ONLY way that I remember to do everything. If it’s in the calendar, it’s pretty important. It’s pretty impossible to miss (seeing as though its reported that we touch our phones more than 2000 times per day) so you know if you have taken the time to pop it in which is far more likely to happen.
4. Try a productivity app (there’s one that’s actually called ‘Productive’)
There’s simply no ‘one size fits all’ when it comes to productivity between individuals and optimizing one’s schedule. I have tried so many different methods and it comes to a point where the trial and error eventually gets you to your ideal methods that bring in the results you are looking for. For me, I brought in better results at work, fit in for fitness and the app even helped me remember to check my posture!
5. Call in the troops!
I always involve people at work as well as my friends and family with the projects I’m focusing on. There are two reasons for this, one, you never know who you might be inspiring by sharing your positive movements. Secondly, when someone reminds you or asks you about your cleanse, or your exciting project, it’s far more powerful than an alarm on your phone. Getting people involved in your study or new ventures can give you that little boost or tap on the shoulder when you need it the most.
