Wellness is a huge buzzword and is very much on trend, you will see it quite literally everywhere, ‘achieve wellness’, wellness-coaches, wellness-apps, the lot!
If you have been busy working, studying or just generally not having the time to scroll through social media to see the enormity of this latest trend, allow me to bring you up to speed.
It is actually a very broad term, in reality, we’d all like to be ‘well’ wouldn’t we? That goes without saying. So what is this craze actually based upon?
It is actually a commitment you make with yourself, to fill your cup and fill it ALL THE WAY so that you are overflowing and can give to others.
Investing in YOU is far a more accurate description or what wellness is truly all about.
Now you can ‘invest’ in property, invest in relationships, that doesn’t necessarily mean you are investing in the right places! Achieving a return from your investment is a whole different ball game.
This to me, is actually about slowing down all those niggling thoughts racing around in our minds, did I do the laundry, did I lock the door, am I going to see that person I don’t want to see today, I’m going to have to cook dinner and I don’t have enough time, it’s cold, I should have said hello to so and so…
Whatever the mind chatter running around in your brain, just learning how to switch that off for a brief moment, is wellness.
Turning a boring chore into a way of fitting in some physical exercise is wellness.
Putting your needs first, as a ritual, even if it’s only 10 minutes you can dedicate to being all about you, of the 1440 in your day!
Wellness has a place in the development of us all however, it doesn’t have to be the latest yoga mat, the most expensive new fancy blender or a vegan face mask!
My Opinion :
In my opinion, wellness is actually you committing to yourself that you will give yourself a break!!!
Listening to your body, reading yourself and your requirements so that you can be healthier, happier and bursting with energy. Small commitments to yourself.
Ok, so you have seen some yoga videos and some healthy and ‘well’ people in videos doing some quite obscure and acrobatic maneuvers and have thought wow, I can barely touch my toes! Yep, we have all been there.
The good news is, to jump on the train to wellness, you are not too late to the party.
